The FDA Is Begging You Not to Take Horse Dewormer for Covid-19 (rollingstone.com)

So far the actual studies on ivermectin are mixed. Some appear to show a significant benefit, others do not. This site has a fairly compete index of the studies so far, most of which are fairly small or have methodology issues. At least one was retracted for suspected fraud. I would recommend ignoring the editorializing on the site and just read the linked studies directly to make your own judgment.

These are the same people who banned over-the-counter NAC and approved a bunk Alzheimer's drug.

NAC has killed people, it is available under controlled use to be an antidote to aspirin poisoning, but an excess is poisonous in itself. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4354467/

It is not comparable at all. In this example NAC was given intravenously, at very high doses to treat paracetamol overdose which is deadly. It is unlikely that such high concentrations could be absorbed from oral intake. You can kill a person by giving too much i.v. saline as well. It happens in hospitals too but it is not a reason to ban sale of salt.

I grew up with horses. It blows my mind people would willingly ingest that stuff. The horses don’t even like taking it. You gotta shove the whole syringe to the back of their throat to make sure they don’t spit it out.

If the FDA doesn't want people taking the horse dewormer version of ivermectin then perhaps they should stop pressuring pharmacies not to fill doctors' prescriptions for the human formulation of the drug, which won the Nobel Prize for Medicine.

I'm not as bullish on ivermectin as a treatment as I once was, but this media push to label it as a horse dewormer is pure propaganda. It's been used safely in humans to treat many conditions for years.

The important thing is that Ivermectin is useless against viruses. Dozens of peer reviewed tests have shown this. Quacks etc who publish in paid to publish Indian and Chinese sing the praises of ivermectin. Ivermectin is cheap, and the strange thing about the people who want you to take it for Covid-19 is they sell ivermectin at 100-300 times the cost. Usually a conflict like this means = scam. On the other hand, if you ass itches or you or your dog/cat scoots their bum across the carpet, buy some horse dewormer for the dog(or you) - read the label and give the dog/cat a weight proportionate dose compared to the label weight for horses. Horse dewormer is over the counter at the farm store for $15 = treats 4000 pounds of horse, as a paste in a tube. Buy it at the vet for your cat = $50 for the visit and $25 for a pill or two.

The parasites ivermectin treats don’t cause itching as far as I can tell. And the most common infection with the symptom, pinworm infection[0] isn’t treated with it. I’d also be careful with scaling medication just by weight. Just because that’s how it’s often done in humans, it doesn’t work across species, because it usually depends on some enzyme’s activity levels, and they can vastly differ. That’s why almonds kill dogs, for example.

For rodents and cats you buy it online for $5-10, one shot for two weeks. It's pure, unlike the horse dewormer. You just need to take care of the dosis per weight.
