Off-topic, but can someone explain to me how mailing lists and threads from 1994 end up on Google Groups? I never really understood what goes on there...
Not mailing lists. These are Usenet posts. Years ago Google bought a service that was archiving the Usenet network and integrated their data into Google Groups.
