Ask HN: Poll: Help me name my startup.

We are just about to start designing our textbook buy-back company's website. We've come up with the following list of ideas, but we can't narrow it down to just one.

We are a online textbook buy-back company. So obviously we need a memorable name, a name that would appeal to college students, and something that sounds reliable.

We want you, HNers, to help us. Vote! And let us know why in the comments

As a university student fairbooks.com seems the most appealing to me, since most of the time the cash I get back for selling my books on campus is anything but fair.

I was just going to chime in with this as well.

Of course they then have to be fair ;) Which if they are, that is probably going to be the base of their messaging for all of their marketing...in which case fairbooks.com is superb

I wouldn't use bookhounds.com because a lot of people will remember it as the singular.

I like bookfire. Simple, has a slightly rebellious edge to it, and memorable.

Too many obvious anti-intellectual connotations, i.e. Fahrenheit 451, Nazi Germany or the Catholic Church.

Last winter apparently pensioners in the UK bought used books because they were cheaper than coal for heating their homes...

I don't like any of these names. You can get away from using books in the name if you come up with a memorable and short adjective or verb that encapsulates the service and "textbooks" can be used in the tagline subtitle. And "bookpenguin" is likely to generate a C&D order from Penguin Books.

Any ideas?

cash4books.com seems to be available

That makes me think of cash4gold.com, which has scammy connotations (after all the insider reports of their scams).

Bookpanda is memorable enough that I could tell another student about it and they would remember.. fairbooks seems very forgettable.

Book.io and books.io will be available in less than a month based on what nic.io says.

buybackbooks.com, bookbuyback.com, bookbuy.com, hookabook.com, buybooks.com, bbb.com, bookabook.com, hookabook.com, sembook.com

I voted bookpanda, because pandas are cuddly.

Maybe booklook.com - it's for sale.

bookback if you are so set on using "book" in the name.
