Most of them provide check boxes to avoid toll roads, highways, ferries and drawbridges, and the like. Why in the world don't they offer an option to avoid left turns?

Significantly harder to implement, simple as that. Would be useful though.

Yep. Left turns in San Francisco at rush hour are also "significantly harder to implement."
