Have you taken a look at https://hop.io/ ?

Seems to be an attempt to recreate the best parts of Heroku with some extras.

Hmm, I think I saw them before but didn't try it since it's still in very early stages, judging by their documentation.

I can see it more like Fly.io competitor, rather than a full platform. At least based on what is in their docs now.

The thing is that abstracting away all the resources means you need to recreate everything from scratch (even if you use a cloud provider underneath), and this takes huge time.

In my case, having the nice Developer Experience on existing products offered by AWS (or others) would be a better suited solution I believe.

If anyone from HN is visiting Edinburgh for Hogmanay, a great view of the fireworks can be had from the top of Calton Hill in the centre of the city. The best way to get up is the set of steps next to Howies on Regent Road.

Hasn't that been blocked off for the last 5 years? Can't have any freeloaders getting a good view of the fireworks.

Along with putting up boards along Prince's street and now completely blocking off the entire city center with barricades unless you pay to get in, this period seems quite anti-citizen.

Maybe! I haven't been into town for Hogmanay for about that long :)

Another good spot used to be the Vennel steps beside Heriot's, but it has become a popular Instagram/TikTok spot recently so might be busy.

The view from Inverness Park is also pretty great.

Inverleith Park? Great view

And under 90kb to fully load!

Having a programmable sketch never occurred to me - it's a really fresh take.

As someone who loves working on paper to design the structure of a system, the conversion to boilerplate structure has always been a laborious structure. Any way to move from a drawn UML type diagram to a basic class structure would be an improvement.

Eric, Caleb, Nick, and Garrett - this is awesome, definitely has a use case to explore the limits of an API in a quick and easy way.

Thanks man! We totally agree :) Hopefully this can become the standard!

Hi HN, we're overwhelmed by the response to this event - it seems like something that has really struck a chord with the London tech community.

We are still looking to confirm a venue for next week, thanks to everyone that has reached out with an offer for this so far. If you are able offer space for this, or a future event - it would be great to hear from you, my email is firstname at oneslipstream.com

It's great to hear that it was a highlight of your time in the city. Hopefully we can kindle some of that hacker spirit and you can make your way along to some future event!

It would be great to see you there if you can make it for a future event :)

Thanks for the offer, I’ll keep it in mind for a future event. I’d you could get in contact at firstname at oneslipstream.com or send me a Twitter message at ConnorL__ I’d love to chat about this with you.
