What then is:

The character of a country is mostly defined by those who have power either nationally or locally. The value of democracy is that, if well implemented, those in power reflect proportionately the wishes of the whole nation. Sadly it rarely happens.

There is also the lack of support for bookmarks. I value the ability to reach a part I am interested in quickly.

When Chrome started supporting PWAs you couldn't bookmark the content at all. They seem to have fixed that now.

Requires permission.

so does an app

Exactly. The only app-specific abuse I can think of is apps that wake in the background (Apple said this isn't the case, but it is), Android where apps get push by default, or apps that just hope the user will grant broad permissions that web can't do.

There is a need for this right across technology.

Using more than 80 characters would be madness.

Tell that to Raymond Chen! ;-D

You reinvented The Million Dollar Homepage!

Though, sorry to say, not as much fun.

100% inspired by it lol.. mentioned that in the original post. the difference is pixels vs real human photos, and the mural only exists if 100k strangers actually show up. curious what would make it more fun for you though? genuinely open to it.

> mentioned that in the original post

Oops, sorry, yes twice! Would have saved me the effort of recalling it.

> what would make it more fun for you though?

Well the original had wildly varied sizes and garish saturated colours. Not very 2020s.

As an aside, you know of course you might get photos you wish you hadn't. The internet back then was just a bit more civilised.

fair point on moderation and yeah i have a review queue before photos go live so nothing gets published thats "R" rated. and agreed the internet is a different place now. on the varied sizes.. interesting idea, hadn't considered making early tiles larger. might actually add that as an incentive for early adopters

"We could replace a great deal of radiologists with AI at this moment"

Perhaps they cost a great number of money?

History does not suggest "weeks" is a realistic measure.

I think you have missed the analogy.

Another way to look at it is that the operator of the hammer has an immediate feedback loop and will not continue with a broken hammer. AI as it stands rarely has that feedback on the consequences of its decisions, and lacks the ability to react appropriately.
