That would mean they would be acquiring Venmo as well?

I feel like PayPal is slowly degrading, I hope Stripe would find a way to modernize it.

It's hard to turn a sinking product around. There's a cultural problem, and those are very difficult to solve.

There's a Munger quote that I don't quite remember, but it went something like this: "When good managers are put into a terrible culture, it's the culture that wins."

When a manager with a reputation for brilliance takes on a business with a reputation for poor economics it’s the reputation of the business that remains intact

When Seagate (then a reputable hard drive manufacturer) purchased Maxtor (then the bottom-of-the-barrel for both price and reliability) I hoped Seagate would rehabilitate their newly acquired facilities and bring them up to the same quality.

I was disappointed.

Just finished migrating to it to replace pdf2docx in a new project I’ve been working on and it is so much better. Thanks for open sourcing OpenDataLoader-PDF!

Consider taking a look at Zed, it can use Gemini with an API key and has an agentic β€œwrite” mode if you don’t want to copy and paste.

Not really a direct alternative as it requires you to use their bank but I've used Qube money for years and love never having to import transactions.

Qube Money is a fintech startup where your debit card is controlled by an envelope based budgeting app. It's still early days so no check deposit but they have thriving Facebook group of users and it helps me be much more intentional about spending.

They even have some neat features similar to privacy.com where you can spin up virtual ACH/debit card numbers via "Bill Qubes". Not to hide your identity but make sure free trials stay that way.

Anthrophic share sale sounds like it can cover it at those original prices https://www.reuters.com/technology/crypto-exchange-ftx-sell-...

From the article it looks like the 500mm investment is now around 1.5B (if they could sell their block at the 18B valuation). Thats a lot less than they lost.

Give Directly has an interesting approach, direct cash transfers. Seem to have studies that show it helps.

It was expensive but I have used Delete Me by Abine in the past.

Thanks for the guidance! Does your info remain unavailble across those types of brokers to this day?

I've been enjoying https://squabbles.io/ as a great reddit alternative

I had to reset my password once for it to work. I wonder if my initial password was too long.

A reminder for everyone that Authy allows multi device and backups in case you lose your phone. From my understanding Google Authenticator doesn't offer either of these.

Please keep in mind that by using Authy you're implicitly supporting the use of SMS 2FA everywhere. We need to push companies to get off of SMS 2FA and giving Twilio another user to put on their quarterly report isn't going to help.

Since the support is something you've made up, how would Twilio get the message that I'm not using Authy because I don't support SMS?

There's also storing 2fa in 1password if you use that, even more convenient
